One of the downsides of expat life is that you live so far from your family, that date nights are usually only possible if you hire a babysitter. Now some of you will call us crazy, but Alex and me do not believe in paying a random person to watch our kids in our house while we're out. At least not while they are this young and are not even able to communicate if they are being treated poorly. Add breastfeeding and nursing to sleep to the mix and you'll get the picture: Alex and me haven't been on a date night in a while! Since May 2012 to be precise. With my mom being in town and Ella sleeping better, things finally changed! We were able to go out twice so far and boy, it felt wonderful.
Leaving the house in the dark. Going to a restaurant for grown ups. Eating in peace. Enjoying really good food. Having great conversations. Just the two of us! Wonderful!
We are striving for a visit to the movies next week and then we'll have to wait until April again. That's when we'll be traveling to Europe and have family babysitters again.
