The weather in the South is so crazy! We had minus 15 degrees Celsius in the beginning of the week and plus 17 degrees Celsius and sunshine on the weekend. I am not sure if this is normal or you can blame climate change for it. Anyway, it was a nice change to have beautiful weather again and we spent a good portion of the weekend outside.
On Saturday, we drove to Moss Rock Preserve, a nature preserve that is only a ten minute drive from our house. We took Sophie's carrier backpack and Ella's Ergo Baby with us and off we went for a little hike.
The preserve is really nice and with its mossy rocks it totally reminded me of Oregon.
Sophie, who usually is not a great walker, totally surprised us and walked for over an hour, up and down the hills, over tree stumps and stones. Her little sister totally enjoyed being carried in the Ergo, which hasn't happened in a while. It was a lot of fun!
On Sunday, we went to the Birmingham Zoo. I am usually not a big Zoo person and we rarely went to the one in Portland, but the Birmingham Zoo has a really nice layout and I am enjoying the fact that Sophie can run around freely without us having to worry about cars or anything else. Birmingham is not as pedestrian friendly as Portland, so it is a nice change to just walk around, plus Sophie loves the Zoo. We took a train ride and visited her favorite animals, the giraffes and many others. Another good thing about the Zoo is that it is in close proximity to the English Village of Mountain Brook. I think I have mentioned before that Birmingham has not the greatest bakery scene but there is one decent one, Continental Bakery, which is a great spot for a coffee break.
All in all, a wonderful weekend! Hope yours was as great! xoxo
