We had a wonderful Christmas celebration with lots of family in town, even more presents and the most amazing spring-like weather. We rang the new year in a bit quieter, just Alex and me with the kids sound asleep, despite the noise of the fireworks. Fireworks at New Years! Oh how I missed you! I will always remember our first NYE in Portland, Oregon. We lived on the top floor of this amazing Loft building in the middle of the Pearl district and looked out of the windows at midnight, expecting to see an amazing firework, but... nothing happened. Back then we didn't know that fireworks are not common on NYE in the US and it was quite the disappointment. So it was really nice to have one, a really big one actually, this year. We also introduced the kids to Bleigiessen, a tradition that I grew up with and have fond memories of. I think they are still a bit to young to fully grasp it, but they had fun nonetheless.
Below some pictures, as they always say more than words.
